8/23/2023 0 Comments Taking a sip of water interview![]() My most recent gig included a zoom interview. They deserve to have something in hand to think over.Įvery single time I've interviewed for a job I've had a coffee. We all deserve time to think in those situations, but interviews can be so intimidating and high pressure that a lot of times people will answer with their gut instead of their head. As OP said, it can buy you time that you'd otherwise fill by stammering or rushing to get something out. I've given myself a prop to use throughout the interview. I've bought myself time to ensure that the initial impression doesn't flavor the rest of the interview, for good or ill. I've acknowledged them as a person, and established myself as someone who will do my best to meet their needs. I've started by extending hospitality, which is something I want my employees to exhibit no matter what position the might hold. If they decline, I always tell them I'm going to get a coffee, so they're not taking me out of my way. I ALWAYS offer interviewees a drink (I work in restaurants).
